Watchismo: For aficionados of the fashionable arm-clock

Frankly, they had us with the pun alone. Watchismo.com’s selection of unusual vintage wristwatches and design-forward modern time pieces is worth a look even if you are one of those people who refuses to wear a watch because you’re such a free spirit, always late to meetings and continually pestering friends and strangers alike to find out what time it is. Shame on you, you chronometric information mooch!

Where were we? Oh yes, after the jump you can see some more boss pictures of elegant horology, like the 1940s Lord Elgin Jump Hour ($750 US) pictured above.

spacemana

Mission Control will always know what time it is with this 1972 Spaceman Tressa Lux Automatic ($480 US), featuring a tripartite wrist wrap.

basch

This slim number with the fatty band is a 1969 LIP Baschmakoff and although it is currently sold out, the Watchismo web site does take reserve orders.

nivadab

The shape of the 1960s Nivada Designer Saucer ($299 US) may seem a little too aggressively ’60s, but dignified stripes bring the piece back onto the tasteful side of the dial.

Poke around the Watchismo site and you’ll be sure to find a few favourites of your own.
