Until March 22, Toronto—Diamonds may be forever, you only have a short time left to catch the Royal Ontario Museum’s The Nature Of Diamonds exhibit. The show has been on display since October, and these are the final weeks to explore the the historical, scientific and cultural meanings behind these hard carbon crystals.
The showpiece of the exhibit (originally curated by the American Museum of Natural History) is the Gem Vault, which houses some the most eye-catching items, including the Incomparable (pictured above), the third largest cut diamond in the world. Other facets of the exhibit include a look at the cultural history of this most valuable gem, the geological provenance of the stones, a comparative look at diamond mining practices around the world, and an authentic recreation of a Kimberlite mine tunnel.
DRIVEN recommends this exhibit to all (with the exception of men in long-term relationships who are expecting to propose in the next year).
